I cannot sign up to Buttons. Am I doing something wrong?
If you are having trouble with the sign-up process, make sure that your name and surname have a minimum of 2 characters each. You also need a valid email address (where you will receive a verification email). Your password must have a minimum of 6 characters. You must also read and tick the box to accept our Terms and Conditions.
How can I upgrade to a Premium plan?
On a desktop, click on "Upgrade account" next to your account name in the top right corner.
On a phone/tablet tap on settings from the navigation menu and choose the "Account" tab. Tap on "Upgrade account" in the Account Type section.
I have a problem with the payment transaction.

I made the payment, why can't I access my account?
We create your account as soon as your payment is verified. If your payment has been successfully processed through PayPal and you still cannot access your account please contact us.
Is the payment automatically renewed every year?
No, it is not automatically renewed. You have to make an annual payment to keep your Premium access.
Why is my coupon code not working?
Make sure that you are copying the coupon code correctly. Some coupon codes have a valididity time frame. Check whether the code you are trying to use has expired. If you have a valid code which is not working, please contact us.
How do I verify my email address?
When you sign up for a Buttons account you will receive a verification email on the address you specified. Follow the link within that email to verify your email address and access your Buttons account. If you did not receive an email you may need to check your spam/junk folder or click re-send email.
Why didn't I receive a verification email?
If you haven't received the verification email check your spam/junk folder, or add email@example.com to your email contacts or safe senders list and re-send the email. If you still do not receive it, please be patient there might be slight delays when sending verification emails. Premium users will not receive a verification email as their account is automatically verified with the payment transaction.
I cannot remember my password. How can I access my Buttons account?
If you cannot remember your password you can click on the "Forgot your password?" option under the sign in fields. You can then enter your email address (this must be the same email address associated to your Buttons account) and you will receive an email containing a link which will help you reset your password.
What is a webmark?
Webmark is the term we use at Buttons to refer to website bookmarks. Every website you add to your Buttons account will be saved as a webmark.
How do I create a webmark?
The easiest way to create a new webmark is by using the Webmark tool or Google Chrome browser extension (if you use the Chrome browser on Mac or PC). On a desktop, click on your account name in the top right corner and click on "Settings-Tools". On a phone/tablet tap on "Settings" from the navigation menu (which is the Buttons logo located in the top right corner of your screen). Follow the instructions to start using this feature.
When accessing your Buttons from a desktop click on "Add webmark" located in the top left section of the screen. When accessing your Buttons from a phone/tablet, tap on the navigation menu. From there you can choose the Add (+) Webmark option.
Enter/paste the url of the website you want to add. By default the name and note will be loaded automatically. This information is taken directly from the website, but can be edited. If you prefer to enter your own details you can disable the auto-load function from your settings. You can place the webmark into an existing group or create a new group. If no group is selected the webmark will be added to the More webmarks group. Premium users can assign one or more tags to the webmark. You can also create a new button or assign the webmark to an existing button. Click on "save" to create the webmark.
Can I import my browser bookmarks to my webmarks?
Premium users can import their browser bookmarks to their Buttons account using the Import tool. This can only be accessed from your desktop browser as it requires you to create and upload an html file containing your current browser bookmarks.
To access the Import tool, click on your account name in the top right corner, choose "Settings - Tools" and click on "Import bookmarks".
How do I add tags to a webmark?
Premium users can add one or more tags to their webmarks. These will significantly improve thier search results. Insert the name of the tag you want to assign in the "Tags" field when creating a new webmark. Separate each tag with a "," comma.
How do I access a webmark?
To quickly access your favourite webmarks you can add them to a button. If the webmark is not assigned to a button, you can access it from your webmarks.
When using a desktop just click on a webmark to access it. On a phone/tablet, go to your webmarks, tap on the webmark you want to access and choose "go".
How can I edit a webmark?
When accessing your Buttons using a desktop, go to your Webmarks. Click on "Edit webmark" which will show up when you hover the mouse pointer over a webmark.
When accessing your Buttons from a phone/tablet, go to your Webmarks from the navigation menu. Look for the webmark you want to edit and tap on it. Choose "edit" from the options menu.
All the fields can be changed or modified. Click on "save" to update the changes made or choose "cancel" to discard the changes.
How do I rename a webmark?
Follow the steps listed in edit webmark. Enter a new name and click on save.
Why aren't the title and description fetched automatically?
Make sure that you have not disabled the auto-load function from your settings. The auto-load function depends on the information provided by the website being added to your webmarks. If a website does not have a proper title and/or definition, they cannot be loaded automatically.
How can I move a webmark to a different group or button?
Follow the steps listed in edit webmark. From there you can choose to move the webmark to a different group or button. You can choose an existing group or button from the drop-down list or create a new one.
How do I delete a webmark?
Follow the steps listed in edit webmark. Click on "delete".
Can I delete more than one webmark at once?
You can delete more than webmark within the same group by clicking on "edit". Select all the webmarks you want to delete and click on "delete".
Can I recover a deleted webmark?
A recovery option is not currently available.
I want to write my own webmark names/notes. Can I stop them from being loaded automatically?
You can choose whether to enable/disable the auto-load function from your settings.
What is a button?
A button is a group of webmarks. Create a button to quickly access the webmarks you use often, to share webmarks and to collaborate with other Buttons users.
How do I create a new button?
When accessing your Buttons from a desktop click on "Add button" located in the top left section of the screen. Enter the button name and click "save". A button with the specified name will be created. When accessing your Buttons from a phone/tablet, tap on the navigation button which is the Buttons logo located in the top right corner of your screen. From there you can choose the add button option. Enter the button name and tap "Create Button".
How do I create a button from a group of webmarks?
To quickly create a button from a group of webmarks, you can simply click on the "copy to button" icon.
How do I rename a button?
To rename a button open the button you want to modify and click on the "edit" icon. Change the name and click on the "save" icon.
Can I add webmarks directly to a button?
You can add a new webmark directly to a button by opening any button and clicking on webmark space with a "+". When a webmark is created using this method the button is chosen by default.
Why can't I add more webmarks to a button?
A button is meant to collect a small group of important websites. Users with a Basic plan have a limit of 8 webmarks while Premium users have a limit of 40 webmarks which can be added to each button.
How can I remove a webmark from a button?
When accessing your Buttons from a desktop you can click on "Remove webmark" which shows up when you hover over the webmark. On a mobile/tablet, tap on the "edit" icon you can delete any webmark within the button by tapping on "Remove webmark" located next to each webmark. The webmarks will be removed from the button, but will still be available in your webmarks.
How can I delete a button?
On a desktop you can quickly delete a button by clicking on the delete icon which shows up when you hover over the button. On all devices you can open the button you want to delete, click on the "edit" icon and then click on the "delete" icon. Deleting a button will not delete the webmarks it contains. These will still be available in your webmarks.
Can I set a button as my homepage?
To set a button as the homepage on your browser you can create a link to the button and set the link as your homepage through your browser settings.
How do I close a button?
To close a button simply click on the "x" close icon. On a desktop you can also use the "ESC" key on your keyboard.
Why can't I add more buttons?
Users with a Basic plan have a limit of 10 buttons. You can upgrade*** to a Premium plan to benefit from unlimited buttons.
How do I share a button?
On a desktop you can quickly share a button by clicking on the share icon which shows up when you hover over the button. On all devices you can open an existing button and click on the "share" icon.
You can also share a button from the sharing page by clicking on "New shared button". Choose from the list of existing buttons or enter the name of a new button and click "Next".
Enter the email address of the user with whom the button will be shared. You can also add an optional note which will be sent together with the invitation. Premium users can share a button with multiple Buttons users. Once a button is shared all the users will be able to add, edit and delete webmarks and edit the button name.
Can I choose who can edit a shared button?
Permium users who are sharing a button with multiple users can choose who can edit a shared button by going to the Sharing section. Find the relevant Shared button, and click on "Manage share". You can choose who can or cannot edit the shared button using the tick boxes next to the email addresses of the users. The permissions can only be managed by the person who created the shared button.
Why can't I accept a shared button?
In order to accept an invitation to a shared button you must be logged into your Buttons account using the email address on which you received the invitation. If the invitation was sent to another email address you will have to ask the person who sent the invitation to send it again to the email address associated with your Buttons account. Another option is to change your email address from your Buttons account settings and accept the invitation. Once you accept the invitation you can change the email address back to the previous one.
Can I edit a shared button?
A shared button can be edited just like any other button. The other user/s will see the same changes you make, including any webmarks and notes added to the shared button. This makes it easy to collaborate with others.
Can I share a webmark?
Only buttons can be shared. In order to share a webmark you need to add it to a button.
How can I tell if a button is shared?
Shared buttons can be recognised by their dotted outline or the "share" icon on the button. You can see an overview of the shared buttons in the Sharing section.
You cannot directly copy a shared button to your Buttons account. However you can keep a copy of all the webmarks within the shared button. To do so, open the shared button and click on the "copy" icon. A new group with the same name as the button will be created in your webmarks, containing all the webmarks within the shared button.
How do I know if my shared button invitation was accepted?
You can see the status of a shared button in the sharing section. If an invitation is still pending you can resend the shared button invitation by clicking on the resend icon.
My webmarks are missing from a shared button.
Once a button is shared, other users will be allowed to modify and delete the webmarks within that button. If webmarks are missing from a shared webmark, contact the other users to see if they have deleted any webmarks. When collaborating with others using a shared button it might be useful to get notified about changes made by others.
Can I get notified about changes in a shared button?
You can receive email notifications when changes are made by others to a shared button. This option can be enabled/disabled from your settings.
Can I share a button with someone who does not have a Buttons account?
A Buttons account is required for a user to share and modify a button. If you want to send a button to someone else for them to view and access the webmarks you can do so by creating a link.
Can I leave/delete a shared button?
Only the user who created the shared button can delete it by going to the sharing section and clicking on delete.
If you are sharing a button which you did not create and want to remove it from your buttons, go to the Sharing section and click on "Leave share". The button will not be deleted for the other user/s but it will be removed from your account.
When a shared button is deleted, all the webmarks within that button will be lost.
If you want to keep the webmarks within a shared button before removing it you can copy a shared button to your account.
Why can't I share a button with more than one user?
Users with a Basic plan can only share a button with one other user. Upgrade*** to a Premium plan to share buttons with multiple users.
How can I create and send a link to a button?
A link to a button can be created from the "links" section by clicking on "Create a new link". Choose the button for which you want to create the link. You can choose to add a note what will appear when the link is opened. Click on "Create" and a link to the chosen button will immediately appear.
To share the link with others, you can copy the URL created and send it through email, chat or social media. You can insert the one or more email addresses and send the link directly from your Buttons account. You can also click on "use your email client" to open a new email containing a copy of the link in your default email application.
Can I send a link to multiple email addresses?
Yes, you can insert multiple email addresses directly in the new link page or copy the link and send it to the desired recipients through email, chat or social media.
If I delete a link which I created would others still be able to access it?
If a link to a button has been deleted by the person who has created it, the link will no longer be available for others.
Why can't I create a link to a button?
If you cannot create a link to a button go to the links page and check if a link to that button already existis. You can only have one link to each button. If all your buttons already have a link, you will not be able to create more links.
I cannot find a specific webmark/button. How can I look for it?
You can use the search bar to look for specific buttons/webmarks. The search will look for matches in the button name, webmark name, URL, tags and note.
How do I change my password?
On a desktop click on your account name in the top right corner and click on "Account". On a phone/tablet tap on "Settings" from the navigation menu and tap on "Account".
To change your password, click on "Change password". Enter your current password and your new password. For security reasons a notification email will be sent to your registered email account.
I think someone else has accessed my account. What should I do?
If you suspect that some else has accessed your account, change your Buttons password. Also make sure that the changes you noticed were not made to a shared button since this can be modified by other users who are sharing the button.
How does Buttons keep my personal information safe?
At Buttons we take all the necessary precautions to ensure that your data is kept secure. The Buttons website uses an https connection to protect the integrity and confidentiality of your data. All data transmitted to and from the Buttons website is encrypted and requires authentication to ensure that only you can access the data on your account. All your personal and login information as well as all your Buttons data is encrypted and is stored on a secure server.
Where does Buttons store my data?
All your Buttons data is encrypted and stored on secure online servers provided by a managed service provider. The data is currently being hosted by one of the world’s most widely used web hosting companies based in the USA.
How do I report a bug?
We work hard to make sure that Buttons can offer you a smooth and enjoyable experience. Should you encounter any bugs we would appreciate a few lines describing the bug or an image to let us know what happened. This will help us solve the problem as soon as possible to ensure that you can keep using Buttons without any inconveniences. To change your name, click on "change" next to your current name. Enter your new details under name and surname.

On a desktop, click on your account name in the top right corner and click on "Account". On a phone/tablet tap on settings from the navigation menu and choose the "Account" tab.
To change the email address assigned to your Buttons account, click on "change" next to your current email address. Enter your new email address and confirm it. You are also requested to enter your Buttons password as a security measure. A verification email will be sent to the new email address.
How do I delete my account?
On a desktop, click on your account name in the top right corner and click on "Account". On a phone/tablet tap on settings from the navigation menu and choose the "Account" tab. Click on "Delete account" and complete the required fields. Your account will be suspended and all buttons will immediately be deleted. Your webmarks and account information will be held for 30 days. If you change your mind contact us to reactivate your Buttons account.
After those 30 days all account information will be deleted. All the webmarks stored on your account will be lost and cannot be restored.
